So guilty of this

I often jump to conclusions and make assumptions trying to 'figure people out'. I strive to be better and was very convicted by the bible verse of the day!

Ecclesiastes 10:12 - A fool is consumed by his own lips

Posted: 05 Nov 2009 12:15 AM PST

NIVWords from a wise man's mouth are gracious,
but a fool is consumed by his own lips.

Our words reveal our character (Matthew 12:34) and we should choose our words wisely.

The fool makes false assumptions and therefore even more errant conclusions. He babbles on and on without thinking. (Ecclesiastes 10:14)

Let's be gracious with our words today, praying and reflecting before sharing and speaking.

As our grandparents said, "we have two ears and one mouth for a reason."

GAP Casting Call

It's that magical time of year... GAP casting call for the kiddos. So since my son is almost ENTIRELY dressed by GAP my hubby and I feel he has a very good chance @ staying in the running. It's funny, Norm has really pushed this more than I thought he would. This is our entry picture, what do you think?

Blessed Year

This little boy is amazingly sweet and adaptable. He loves any type of food (so long as it's not sweets) and will play with any toy we give him. HE LOVES ALL BOOKS. We've had a busy couple of weeks herewith the birthday week, Bunnie visiting, and all our outings. He had a huge turnout at his party.... Did you check out those drums??? He is one cool, beloved kid. =) He is my buddy. I watch him fall asleep some nights and I just want to cry (and I don't cry often) at the awesome responsibility of being Ethan's momma. Things haven't been easy, but who likes easy anyhow? God gives us what is right and best for our lives and my time with Ethan is a perfect part of God's plan. I am so grateful to God for Ethan and the year that we have shared.

Fun Family Day

We took Ethan to eat @ Andrea's Fish and Chips and the bummed around the harbor. We made the mad dash across the street to the beach as well. Ethan had never been. He was very interested but is definitely not ready to go in yet... you can see it in his face! Now that there are fewer and fewer eating restrictions we can really enjoy our time out with him... he LOVED seafood especially the scallops!

Neat-O

I'm just thinking of all the neat pictures I'll take when we get an SLR... the excitement... I do have a very cooperative subject though, don't I?

Uncle Beanie

At the Golden Globes last year Kate Winslet gushed about Leonardo DiCaprio (can't blame her) and how she has loved him for the thirteen years they had been dear, close friends. He is Uncle Leo to her children. Well I have a friend like this and his name is Gladstone (Bean for short). You see we just have this easy beautiful friendship that is so natural.... there has never been a thing we couldn't discuss (oh the looonngg days at the CAM Library). When I was pregnant he talked to Ethan and rubbed my belly. When he saw Norman for the first time during my pregnancy he walked up to him and practically picked him up with a hug of joy over our baby-to-be. He and Norman have even become friends (due to their shared love of firearms and cynicism). So awesome.
Today I spent the afternoon with Bean and his wife just talking and playing with the baby. It was really fun and relaxing.... even squeezed in some 'Obama hat' talk... good times. I can't think of two people who could offer more love to a child and it just breaks my heart to see them making my guy giggle. It will be one of the sweetest moments of my life to hold their child. I think I will be a blubbering fool and I'm not emotional at all! SOOO in one very small and maybe silly way I relate to Kate because I have loved my dear friend Bean for almost three years and will probably say the same thing in ten more!

Not all bad...

Maya Angelou irks me. Maybe it's when I perceive to be fake spirituality or mainstream spirituality or mostly because Oprah worships her and I cringe at the thought of anything that woman loves... don't get me started on her book club, give me a break........ Anyhow, my pal Steph sent this to me and I actually like it... in fact I'll go so far as to call this her best and clearest piece of writing. I feel it's worth sharing and GASP, possibly worth printing out of maybe good enough for one of those tacky plaque thingies... oh wait.. or even better, some embroidery framed thing! HA! (I have one of each of these in my own home so I am poking fun at myself too.)

BEAUTIFUL CHRISTIAN SISTER
By Maya Angelou

'A woman's heart should be so hidden in Christ
That a man should have to seek Him first to find her.'

When I say... 'I am a Christian' I'm not shouting 'I'm clean living,'
I'm whispering 'I was lost, now I'm found and forgiven.'

When I say... 'I am a Christian' I don't speak of this with pride.
I'm confessing that I stumble and need Christ to be my guide.

When I say... 'I am a Christian' I'm not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I'm weak and need His strength to carry on.

When I say.. 'I am a Christian' I'm not bragging of success...
I'm admitting I have failed and need God to clean my mess.

When I say.... 'I am a Christian' I'm not claiming to be perfect,
My flaws are far too visible, but God believes I am worth it.

When I say.... 'I am a Christian' I still feel the sting of pain...
I have my share of heartaches, so I call upon His name.

When I say... 'I am a Christian' I'm not holier than thou,
I'm just a simple sinner Who received God's good grace, somehow!

Nine months old today!

As I am waiting on news of Ethan's new little friend Owen (exactly 9 months his junior), I thank God for my guy. He is a TERRIBLE nap taker and is very opinionated but he is, and always will be, my Cuddle P (though he rarely cuddles). Growing up, my mom always said 'In light of eternity, this is nothing' which is helpful to remember when woken up 1 or 2 TIMES a night (YES, STILL)!!!
I am THANKFUL for the challenges and simply just for the role of 'momma'. Thank you God for Ethan, he is wonderful as you made him.

Cuddle P

When I was leaving Blair and Michelle's today a woman stopped me as I was walking off their porch. She exclaimed that I had the most beautiful baby she had ever seen. She asked his name and age so I told her. She again told me that I had a beautiful child. I thanked her. Now, I do admit often that my kid is cute, but I do constantly remind myself that being proud and boastful about one's kid doesn't benefit ANYONE.

He is lovely, just an amazing kid and just EXACTLY what I would want if I had to choose. Seriously... he laughs at all my dumb faces and dances and loves to be tousled. I am his favorite person and I just don't get it, what did I do to deserve him? Nothing.

There is no doubt, no doubt that God loves me. I would tell you the same thing even if it was all taken away. My mom thinks I'm morbid but I tell her every month I have him is another month I'm glad he is still here. I'm not afraid he is going to die but yeah it has crossed my mind (the what ifs). I know I'm fortunate to have Ethan and to be home with him and make his baby food, and and and...

Ethan is a daily reminder of what I have and what I should not take for granted. Yes, he is an AWFUL napper... yes he is beginning to throw tantrums but he is still a sweet and wonderful gift. My cuddle P.

Great Baby Gear

I purchased a Lucky Baby sling for Ethan (it goes to 35lbs and does all sorts of positions)! I am determined to lose some weight and start taking him more places within walking distance. I don't always want to take the stroller and enjoy being close to him! He is only 81/2 months old.... he shouldn't even be in a stroller yet! When he was a newborn I carried him in a Peanut Shell but he outgrew that quickly. It was also fleece so it got kinda warm... but it was perfect for walking to the store, etc!
Anyhow, this little website sells the slings and a bunch of other cool products. I actually had a few things already and am interested in browsing for more fun things for my bubbers!
